DEPARTURE

This morning after breakfast you will transfer to Port Blair airport in time to board your flight. Depart Port Blair with fond memories of these mesmerizing Islands.

Andaman

Andaman & Nicobar Islands, a group of 572 islands & islets spread like a broken chain of pearls over Bay of Bengal covering an area of 8249 sq.km. The archipelago of Andaman and Nicobar Islands celebrate serene solitude at its dense forests, exotic floral beds and stretches of silvery sand beaches. Over a distance of 780kms of ocean from North to South, the island, although a Union Territory of India, is very close to Rangoon (Burma), Phuket (Thailand), Malaysia & Sumatra.

Port Blair

The capital city is a bustling overgrown town of immense historical importance. The famous Cellular Jail (that housed Indian freedom fighters during the struggle for independence) draws hundreds on visitors and is perhaps the most visited monument in the Andamans.

Sound and Light Show at Cellular Jail, Port Blair

Son-Et- Lumiere (Sound and Light Show) inaugurated at the Cellular Jail, National Memorial Complex at 6.00 pm on 20th October, 1990 by Lt. General R.S. Dayal(Retd) Lt. Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The show begins with a brief historicial and mythological reference to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands by the wandering spirit of the Cellular Jail. Late Dr. Melville-de-Mellow had prepared the basic script of the programme while Neelabh prepared the show script. The music is by Louis Banks and the main singer is Vinay Mandka. Light designing is of Dr. Nissar Allene. The Artists who gave their voice to the programme include Manmohan Singh, Om Puri, Nasruddin Shah, Jalal Agha, Deepak Mathan, Tom Alter, K. K. Raina and Vijay Kashyap.

Corbyns Cove Beach

Corbyn's Cove beach- the coconut-palm fringed beach, six kilometers away from Port Blair town is ideal for swimming and sun-basking. Facilities like hotel, restaurant, bar, changing room, adventure water-sports are available here. Historical remains like Japanese Bunkers can be seen on the way to this beach. The Snake Island situated just across the beach is popular for scuba diving. The Waves Restaurant & Beer Bar run by Tourism department provides delightful cuisine at reasonable rates in a soothing ambience on the beach.

Ross Island

This small island, less than a square kilometer stands right across Port Blair. This island served as the capital to the Britishers from 1858 to 1941 when the Japanese occupied it and converted it to a ‘POW site'. This island homes the ruins of the church, Chief Commissioner's house, the Cathedral and graveyard of the Britishers and few other important landmarks which today is hugged by wild wines and huge roots and trunks of century old trees which are very evocative of the ruins and remains. To reach Ross Island, private ferries are available from Aberdeen Jetty except on Wednesday.

North Bay Beach

North Bay beach which is north of Port Blair provides snorkelling opportunities around its fringing coral reefs. Private ferry service takes one from Aberdeen Jetty across North Bay and brings back after a three hour stay. The corals at North Bay are spread over a large area. During snorkeling one can spot many species of fish, often lobsters and even clams on the coral reef. Sea walk is the latest addition of facilities there to watch under water life.

Havelock

With one of the Andaman’s most dazzling beaches and plenty of cheap bamboo-hut accommodation, Havelock is the island of choice for travellers wanting to kick back and enjoy the slow (but not comatose) pace of island life. It’s easily accessible from Port Blair, and offers excellent snorkelling and scuba-diving opportunities. Although Havelock is the most developed of the islands, it’s still very low-key and simple – a world away from the beach resorts of mainland India or Southeast Asia.

Visit to Elephant Beach

If you have visited the Havelock Island and have not visited Elephant Beach then you have missed something very good. Elephant Beach is approximately 20 minutes by boat from the Havelock Island dock. This destination offers beautiful white sand beach along with an amazing coral reef which starts at a depth less than a metre. Wondering, how is this possible? Well, this happens only at the Andaman Islands and would not be found at many destinations across the globe. The white sand beach and the blue green water at the Elephant beach is enticing for almost every traveller. The boat ride to Elephant beach passing through the light house is amazing. Add this attraction to your to do list and we will plan it perfectly.

Snorkeling trip

Snorkeling is offered in the shallow areas of the coral encores while going underwater with the scuba equipment. Inside the water, one can glide along the coral shelf and experience the cold water and the strange and striking coral formations. It is difficult imaging the beauty of the underwater marine life from outside as it appears entirely a new world once we see fish swim, nibbling at colorful algae, sea anemones and planktons just next to you. Part of Havelock Island is logged using elephants. The spectacle of elephants working in the forest and bathing and swimming in the nearby sea is a special attraction. The Elephant Training Camp managed by the Forest Department at Kalapathar opens its doors to tourists occasionally.

Radha Nagar Beach

If you are at Havelock, Radhanagar beach is a MUST! Blue and green waters, calm environment, clean beach! Surreal, great place to sit and stare at the tides with anyone to everyone, or have fun in water and click some amazing pictures to take back memories!
